Claire O'Brien

Claire joined Music4children in November 2016. She is an excellent piano teacher, preparing students for LCM classical piano and jazz piano exams. She also tutors students for solo and ensemble performances. Claire encourages creativity and fun and guides her students in improvisation and composition during her piano lessons.

As a graduate of UCC, Claire obtained a Bachelor of Arts and Music degree. During her time there, she received various awards for musical excellence. These included the DOC Gleeson award for outstanding vocal performance and “Scholar of Music” title from the Department of Arts, Celtic and Social Studies. She also received a Royal Irish Academy High Achiever award for her exceptional results in her Senior Certificate exam.  Over the course of her studies, Claire developed diverse musical interests. These ranged from Javanese gamelan to Irish harp, song writing and composition.

Claire has many years’ experience working as an accompanist and solo performer. She is involved with the UCC choir, the Irish World Academy Gospel choir and the Cork Gamelan ensemble. She is currently studying for a Masters in song writing from the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance.
